28 October 2021

  • Cero Generation (Cero), established in February 2021, has now completed construction and reached commercial operation on its first Italian solar project.
  • With more than 8.5 GW under development across 150 projects, Cero has one of Europe’s largest solar development portfolios.
  • Cero is a Green Investment Group (GIG) portfolio company operating on a stand-alone basis.

GIG portfolio company, Cero Generation has today announced the successful completion of the construction and commissioning of its first solar PV project in Italy.

The project – Bolotana A – is strategically located in Sardinia’s Bolotana region and has an installed capacity of 5.75 MW.  The neighbouring Bolotana B project has an installed capacity of 9 MW and will also shortly commence construction.  These combined projects will generate enough renewable electricity to power the equivalent of over 9,000 homes and leading to the avoidance of around 8,500 tonnes CO2e per year.

As a specialist solar energy developer working across Europe to support the transition to a net-zero future, the commissioning of this initial project in Italy is a significant milestone for Cero.  The Bolotana solar projects in Sardinia form part of Cero’s wider Italian solar strategy which includes an existing development pipeline of a total of 1.5 GW, that will support Italy in meeting its solar PV target of over 50GW by 2030.

Launched in February 2021, Cero is a development focused solar energy company working across Europe to deliver a net-zero future. It works alongside local partners to deliver its 8.5 GW portfolio of over 150 utility-scale and on-site generation projects, its expansion into Italy marks a significant milestone for Cero.

Cero Generation is a Green Investment Group portfolio company, operating on a stand-alone basis.
