Macquarie Asset Management’s Green Investment Group announces investment in Galway Sustainable Capital

Macquarie Asset Management’s Green Investment Group (GIG) and Galway Sustainable Capital (Galway) today announced the close of a $US250 million investment by GIG via the Macquarie Green Investment Group Energy Transition Solutions (MGETS) fund in Galway Sustainable Capital, a specialty finance company. Galway invests in companies, projects, and assets with a goal of accelerating the energy transition and deployment of sustainability and resiliency-focused solutions globally.

Galway is focused on modular, distributed, and localized projects with a typical individual investment of $US50 million and under. Founded in 2020 with equity from Cordillera Investment Partners, Galway provides flexible, full stack capital solutions to support companies, developers and sponsors that are accelerating the transition to environmental and social sustainability. Galway has deployed more than $US250 million to date across 29 individual investments. Galway’s key investment themes of renewable energy, energy efficiency, green buildings, clean transportation, and circular economy solutions align with GIG’s mandate and are expected to drive the next phase of energy transition.

"In order to meet the demand for energy transition and sustainability solutions over the next decade, it is critical we identify and address energy and climate solutions at the distributed scale.

With its proven track-record and deep market knowledge and experience, Galway is well positioned to support the development of projects and companies seeking to rapidly accelerate the transition to net zero."

William Demas
Head of Green Investment Group - Americas

"Investing in a sustainable future is both critical and urgent. We are excited by the support of Macquarie Asset Management’s Green Investment Group, which will enable us to further our mission by providing capital to a greater number of qualified companies, developers, and projects advancing solutions to pressing problems facing our planet and society."
