Macquarie’s Green Investment Group announces the appointment of three senior industry experts.
Professor David Viner, Co-ordinating Lead Author for the IPCC’s Working Group 2 Sixth Assessment Report and Lead Author on the IPCC’s Special Report on Climate Change and Land-use, has been appointed Head of GIG’s Green Impact Advisory Team. David brings over 25 years of experience at the forefront of climate science to lead the development and expansion of GIG’s market leading Green Impact Advisory Services. The team’s green impact assessment methodology provides a template for best practice green impact disclosure. The assessment is applied to all GIG investments and is now also available for use by third parties.
Chris Morrison joins GIG to lead GIG’s Distributed Energy and Energy Technology activities in Europe. Working alongside Edward Northam, GIG’s European Head, and Greg Callman, GIG’s Global Head of Energy Technologies, Chris will lead GIG’s work on distributed energy, and energy services and technologies, including storage and E-mobility in the European market. Chris joins GIG from Vitol, where he ran the company’s UK energy storage business. Prior to Vitol, Chris led Centrica’s UK & Ireland Distributed Energy business.
Finally, former CEO of Vattenfall Vindkraft, Ole Bigum Nielsen, has been appointed to lead the business’ Asset Creation and Management team. Ole joins GIG from Statkfraft where he was responsible for the delivery of the company’s development and construction projects. The Asset Creation and Management team provides GIG’s principal project portfolio with deep technical and real asset expertise, supporting projects throughout their lifecycle from development, into construction and operations. Leveraging his extensive experience in the wind sector Ole will also take on global responsibility for GIG’s offshore wind project delivery activities.
