We’ve backed almost 20 projects: producing renewable electricity and heat, improving energy efficiency, increasing recycling and avoiding waste being sent to landfill.

In 2012 GIB set-up camp with Edinburgh as our headquarters. For our first investment north of the border we headed straight to a distillery - to finance the replacement of their heavy oil boiler with a sustainable biomass boiler, improving the sustainability of Scotland’s national drink. Our latest investment was a little less glamorous but no less important – financing a new waste-to-energy plant for household waste in Edinburgh and Midlothian.

Since then we’ve backed almost 20 projects across the country, from the most northern tip of the mainland to the southern border.

Our investments are playing a big part in Scotland’s transition to a low carbon economy. They are increasing renewable electricity generation, producing renewable heat, improving energy efficiency and reducing energy demand, increasing recycling and reducing the amount of waste being sent to landfill.
